Your TRAVEL Insurance

Mountain biking can be a dangerous sport so we have decided to make sure you protect yourselves by making the purchase of Hazardous Sports Cover a condition of your booking.

It becomes very difficult to recommend a specific insurance company as everyones needs and medical situations are different. We will however remind you that you should ensure that whichever policy you purchase has no restrictions on mountain biking. We've seen some policies that cover mountain biking but with ridiculous exclusions!

  • Mountain biking [on paved trails only]
  • Mountain biking [at not more than 500m above sea level]
  • Mountain biking [not on hazardrous terain]

The travel insurance guide website offers useful advice for travellers with links to 3 companies offering sports orientated travel insurance policies.

Emergency Treatment.

In the unfortunate event that you need emergency treatment, Whistlers Emergency clinic is superbly equipped and staffed to manage anything that comes through the doors. Bear in mind however that non-Canadians will be required to pay upfront before being treated! This is a policy implemented by the clinic and outside of our control. For anything more than a minor injury, you are required to pay an admission/treatment fee of approx. $545 plus a Doctors fee plus fees for any tests you may require. For example, admission with a broken arm with an X-ray and cast would likely run you a bill of $800-$1000.

We strongly recopmmend that you travel with a credit card as you will need to cover these costs before you can involve your insurance company for either further care or re-imbursement.

We have been through all manner of accident situations on both a personal and guest level. We will do everything we can to assist you in any post injury needs!

It also therefore stands to reason then that if you're coming out on a ride with us, 'no helmet - no ride'

All guests participating in our guiding or coaching programs are required to read, understand and sign a release of liability waiver.
